Billy was born in Northern Ireland and was brought up on Elvis, Buddy Holly, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Willie Nelson. His passion for drumming came to the front when he would break his mum's knitting needles and ruin the furniture with his constant hammering. He joined his first band at the age of 12 and had his first gig at the age of 13. His love of country music enticed him to join his dad's band and along with his brother and sister they made the very popular John C King Family Band. His passion for singing started to equal that of his drumming but he had to wait until his voice broke. He has surprised many people who knew him only as a drummer, with his powerful voice. His main influences are the more modern style of country but 'country' none the less. Billy says that he tries to emulate his dad in his approach and professionalism to his music.
